As a first time mom preparing for a baby became overwhelming very quickly. There’s so many decisions you have to make that you never even thought about. With the help of family and friends I finally got my Baby Registry put together, and here are 10 items that I founds are to be the most important.

1. Pack’n Play
Having a Pack’n Play makes traveling with a baby or toddler easy. All Pack’n Plays have a dual purpose, depending on the ago of the baby, it can double as a place to play or a play to sleep.
This model includes a reversible pad that is a changing area on the side and a bassinet on the other. The bassinet is designed for infants and newborns, which can be removed easily. The meshing siding allows for ventilation and visibility. The feature that makes this product so popular is the push-button fold mechanism, which enables parents to set up or fold away the unit in one smooth movement.
Pack’n Plays do not include a sheet for the bottom, it’s always a good idea to add those to your registry if you’re going to use this for your baby to sleep in because the bottom base can be rough or scratchy.
2. Disposable Nursing Pads
Whether you plan on breastfeeding or not these are an essential item that you’ll need. After having a baby you will be lactating on a daily basis. With these pads you won’t have to worry about ruining your favor shirt, or have to fear that your leaking out. These pads draw milk away from the skin and into the core of the pad, and their non-slip adhesive tape ensures the pad will stay in place. They also contour to your skin so no one will ever have to know that you’re wearing one.
3. Breast Pump
This item depends if you plan on pumping. I have registered the because it is designed for women who plan on pumping several times a day. It comes in bag styles so you’ll sure to be able to find something that fits your lifestyle. You can also look into getting a pump from your insurance. Just call up your insurance company let them know that you are pregnant, and if it’s covered in your plan they will send you one once you have had your baby.
I choose to go with the Sorelle Berkley Crib and Changer because it has an attached changing table and can be converted into a daybed and full-size bed so it grows with your baby. You don’t have to register for this item right away cause you can always use the Pack’nPlay for the first couple of months after your baby is born.
5. Baby Gates
Gates are important because they keep your baby away from stairs, or any area that you do not want them wandering into. I registered for the Summer Infant Gate because the mounts provide protection without damaging your walls, and the pressure fit ensures a quick installation.
6. Bottle Warmer
You don’t want to be up in the middle of the night and have to boil water so you can heat a bottle. With a bottle warmer you can start the process before you even go in to get your crying baby. Just simply set the bottle in the warmer and it’s ready in seconds, so by the time you get to your child your bottle is ready!
7. Food Processor
This may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of what you’ll need for a baby, but having a food processor will save you a lot of trouble later on. Once you’re baby is able to eat more than just milk you’ll need to have baby puree ready. You’ll save lots of time being able to quickly blend up fruits and veggies, and freeze it. This saves time and money, giving you more time to spend with you’re little one.
8. Storage Bins
You’ll be getting a lot of stuff before your baby arrives and if you’re anything like me you like to keep things organized. Having storage bins will help you keep everything in place and will remove all the piles from your floor.
9. Car Seat Stroller Combo
This is something that you can’t get from a friend, you must buy new when it comes to the safety of your baby. I choose the Britax B-Agile/B-Safe Travel System. The SafeCell Impact Protection protects your child beyond federal safety standards. It has a Click & Go system which enables you to pair the seat with any Britax stroller, and one-hand fold design easily closes the stroller in seconds. I also recommend registering for an extra base so you don’t have to remove the whole car seat when you are switching cars.
10. Crib Mattress Protectors
In my opinion you can never have enough of these, between bed wetting, or throw up you will need to have something to protect your mattress from all the stains. I suggest getting a waterproof mattress protector so you can just throw it in the washer if an accident happens and it’s goo as new the next day.
